Anna Temple was named the Head Coach of the UW women's golf team on May 22, 2025. She has served as Associate Head Coach and recruiting coordinator for the Huskies for the past three years, and succeeds Mary Lou Mulflur, who retired at the conclusion of the 2025 season after a Hall of Fame 42 years at Washington.
Temple becomes the fifth women’s golf head coach in UW history.
This past season alongside Mulflur, Temple helped Vivian Lu make the All-Big Ten First Team and earn an individual NCAA Regional appearance. The sophomore entered the Gold Canyon Regional as the top-seeded individual and finished 20th out of the 77-player field.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been chosen to lead the University of Washington women’s golf program,” Temple said. “I fell in love with this university and in particular this department because of the intentional culture that has been built here, the quality of the people, and the pursuit of excellence for our student-athletes both on and off the course. It has been a privilege to work alongside ML for the last three seasons, and I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for her and the players she has impacted in her career, one of whom being the late Nancy McDaniel.”
In 2023-24, the Huskies finished seventh at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional. Senior Camille Boyd earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors in 2024.
In her first season at UW in 2022-23, Temple helped coach Boyd to a tie for fourth place in the 2023 NCAA Regional. Boyd notched the second lowest 54-hole score in program history and came just one stroke shy of advancing to the NCAA Championships after carding a 13-under total of 203 at the NCAA Pullman Regional.
In her three seasons at UW, Temple helped an individual or team advance to Regionals all three years. She has coached an All-Big Ten First Teamer, an All-Pac-12 First Teamer, seven All-American scholars earning 10 awards, and guided Washington to three individual wins and two tournament team wins – including a team and individual (Vivian Lu) first-place finish at this year’s Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
“I am sincerely thankful to Pat Chun, Mike Dillon, and the entire search committee for their belief in me and the direction of this program,” Temple said. “I am particularly grateful to ML and her leadership for the past 42 seasons as well as her role as one of the guiding lights in our sport. She has built a tremendous program based on relationships, hard work, and a love of the University of Washington. I am thrilled to take the history and traditions of this program and lead it into the new landscape of collegiate athletics.”
Prior to Washington
Temple spent 10 years as the head coach at UC Davis (2012-22) where she led the Aggies to three straight Big West championships in 2013, 2014, and 2015 and was named Big West Coach of the Year each of those three seasons.
She also guided Davis to seven consecutive NCAA Championship appearances by a team or individual during her tenure.
In her first season at the helm of Davis, Temple won the Big West Championship (2012-13), with Aggies finishing first, second, third, and fourth to earn a 29-stroke team victory.
In her second season, Davis won the conference title by 16 strokes.
During her time at Davis, Temple coached four Big West Player of the Year winners (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019), two Big West Freshman of the Year honorees (2013, 2017), a Big West Student-Athlete of the Year (2015), 15 All-Big West student-athletes, and two WGCA All-Americans (2013, 2015).
Before her time at Davis, Temple served as the assistant women’s golf coach at Cal from 2008 to 2012 under Husky Women’s Golf alum Nancy McDaniel.
Temple guided Cal to the 2012 Pac-12 Team title and produced 10 total tournament wins during her four-year stint.
The Berkeley, Calif. native was an all-region player herself at Cal, where she played three seasons after transferring from Wisconsin at the conclusion of her freshman campaign. Temple earned her undergraduate degree from Cal in 2004.
Temple found tremendous success in her amateur career, qualifying four times for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship (2000-02, ’04), including a berth to the quarterfinals in her first trip.
Temple's professional career included time on the Duramed Futures Tour in 2005 and 2006 and the Ladies European Tour in 2006, 2007, and 2008. She also played on the Ladies African Tour in 2008. Her top finish was in the tour's 2008 WPGA Master's, falling in a playoff for top honors.
