Women’s Golf Welcomes Assistant Coach Vanessa Wang

SEATTLE – Washington women's golf head coach Anna Temple announced today that former Vanderbilt assistant Vanessa Wang will join the Husky coaching staff ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Wang comes to Seattle after spending the last three years at Vanderbilt, where she helped the Commodores to back-to-back NCAA Championship appearances in her first two seasons.
Most recently earlier in July, Wang qualified for the USGA mid-am, which will take place the first week of September.
"I am thrilled to welcome Vanessa to our program! She is a young and hungry coach who will add a tremendous amount to our student-athletes' experience," Temple said. "While at Vanderbilt, she successfully helped recruit and develop highly competitive players who also achieved excellence in the classroom and in their community. I have been encouraged by her work ethic, her drive to compete, and her desire to give our student-athletes a transformational experience."
In 2025-26, Wang and the Commodores recorded seven Top-5 marks, including back-to-back first places finishes in the fall at the Mason Rudolph Championship and the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. Vanderbilt concluded the season with a sixth-place finish at the Stanford Regional, wrapping the year at No. 13 in the final poll.
In Wang's second season in Nashville in 2024-25, she helped Vanderbilt to its fourth straight NCAA Championship appearance and a 16th-place finish.
Her first season with the Commodores in 2023-24 was the squad's third straight NCAA Championship appearance. She helped guide the team to a 20th-place finish overall, its best since the 2013-14 season. Vanderbilt posted seven Top-5 finishes that season, including two wins, in Wang's first season on staff. The Commodores finished at the top of the Mason Rudolph Championship, just the second tournament of the season, as well as the Clemson Invitational.

"I'm excited to work alongside Coach Temple and help our student-athletes grow and excel on and off the golf course while creating a memorable experience they can look back on. Wang joined Vanderbilt's staff after a five-year student-athlete career at Cal Poly. Over her five-year stint, Wang recorded a 75.20 stroke average with 23 rounds at or under par as well as 17 Top-20 finishes.
She helped the Mustangs to three consecutive Big West Conference championships and NCAA Regional appearances. In 2023 as a fifth-year, Wang was an all-tournament selection after tying for fourth place individually. Cal Poly went on to claim the tournament title by an 11-stroke margin.
Wang graduated from Cal Poly with her degree in sport management along with an exercise and sports studies minor while earning Big West All-Academic Team honors.
Originally from Rowland Heights, Calif., Wang attended La Serna High School and helped her team to a multitude of victories on the course. She led La Serna to a fifth-place finish in the California Interscholastic Federation state championships in 2016 along with four San Gabriel Valley League titles.
The California native won the Lizette Salas Junior Championship in her final American Junior Golf Association event. Wang posted nine Top-10 results on the Southern California PGA Toyota Tour Cup in 2017 and 11 victories on the PGA Southern California Junior Tour during her prep career. In 2018, Wang qualified for the USGA Fourball Championship.
