ROSEMONT, Ill. – After posting three 20-plus point performances over the course of 15 days, Hannes Steinbach has been named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
It is the second weekly award of the season for the German international, who also earned Big Ten and National Freshman of the Week honors after eye-catching outings versus UCLA and USC.
The 6-11 forward averaged 20.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game during the three games, extending his double double streak to four games and giving him a Big Ten best nine for the season, tied for the fifth most in the nation.
