UW Women’s Soccer Fall Late To Utah, 1-0
September 04, 2025 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – The Washington women's soccer team dropped its first result of the season on Thursday, falling 1-0 to Utah at Husky Soccer Stadium.
Utah finished the night with a 12-7 advantage on shots, 4-3 on shots on goal. Husky keeper Tanner Ijams made three saves on the night, one shy of her career-high, while facing a career-high 12 shots.
It was one-way traffic through the early going as Washington seized momentum from the opening whistle. The Huskies rattled off a trio of shots in quick succession from the top of the box in the third minute, but all three were blocked en route to the goal.
Washington continued to control the pace of play through the first 25 minutes, before Utah began to grow into the game.
While the Utes had the more threatening attack as the clock ticked down, ultimately taking a 7-6 shot advantage in the first half, the two sides settled for a 0-0 score after 45 minutes.
Utah continued on the front foot following the second half whistle, but the Dawg defense remained resolute to keep the score deadlocked.
However, the Utes broke through in the 84th minute, as Kelly Bullock redirected Grace Watkins' ball in front of Ijams, ending UW's unbeaten run at six matches.
The Huskies are off through the weekend, resuming on Thursday to open up Big Ten play. UW will travel to Los Angeles to face USC at the newly opened Rawlinson Stadium, with the match airing on national television on the Big Ten Network.
