
Washington Drops Big Ten Series at No. 5 Oregon on Saturday

EUGENE, Ore. โ The Huskies slugged two home runs but ultimately fell in game two of the three-game set with Oregon on Saturday by a score of 6-4.

Washington moves to 27-24 and 15-11 in Big Ten play while Oregon improves to 37-13 and 18-8 in conference games.

The Huskies jumped in front first, loading the bases in the first inning and scoring two runs on a two-RBI single from Colton Bower.

The Ducks scored one in the second, but Washington held a 2-1 lead midway through the fourth inning. Oregon then capitalized on an error to bring home three runs in the bottom half of the frame to jump ahead, 4-2.

The Dawgs weren't out yet, and used two solo home runs in the fifth to tie the game. Cooper Whitton belted the first, his second of the season before Casen Taggart roped his sixth of the year to bring the score even at four.

Oregon regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a home run of their own, and added one more in the sixth.

Jackson Thomas pitched 4.2 innings as the starter on Saturday, allowing nine hits, five runs, and one walk while striking out three batters. Josh Emanuels closed out the remaining 3.1 innings, giving up three hits and one run with one walk.

Offensively, the Huskies had four hits on the day. Bower led the team with two RBIs while Casen Taggart scored two of Washington's four runs.
