March 21, 2025 | Baseball
SEATTLE โ Washington used an onslaught of offense to earn a 12-4 win against Maryland on Friday night at Husky Ballpark.
ย
With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-13 on the season, including 3-1 in Big Ten play. Maryland drops to 11-11 and 1-3 in the conference.
ย
Washington scored at least oneย run in six different innings, but the largest impact came in the sixth where the Dawgs racked up five. Blake Wilson started the sixth inning barrage with a two-run home run, his second long ball of the season.
ย
Casen Taggart added an RBI with a sacrifice fly before Trevor Kole hit a two-RBI single to conclude the inning for the Huskies. In the seventh inning, Colton Bower added a solo shot, his team-leading fifth homer of the year, for the 12th run of the game.
ย
While the offense was impressive, just as important was the Husky pitching and defense. Max Banks made his first start since February 28 tonight and threw three innings, allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out two.
ย
Reilly McAdams took over in the fourth and pitched the remainder of the game, tossing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts, four hits, and two runs allowed. It tied McAdams' longest outing of the season (March 14, 6.0 IP vs. Gonzaga).
ย
The Husky infield turned its 20th double play of the season, the best mark in the Big Ten. Washington also recorded a perfect fielding percentage on the day with no errors. The Huskies have allowed six or fewer hits on nine occasions this season and are 6-3 in those games.
ย
The win against Maryland was Washington's fourth game scoring 12 runs and sixth game reaching double digits. When scoring 10+ runs, the Huskies are 6-0.
ย
Malakhi Knight and Colton Bower led the team in hits on Friday, each tallying three. Trevor Kole and Blake Wilson shared the team-lead in RBIs with three apiece.
ย
As a team, the Huskies hit .371 (13-35) compared to Maryland's .188 (6-32). The Huskies thrived with runners in scoring position, batting .455 (5-11) in those situations.
ย
Washington will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday, as the teams meet for game two of the series at Husky Ballpark at 7:02 p.m.
