SEATTLE โ The Huskies narrowly lost to Maryland on Saturday, dropping a 1-2 game at Husky Ballpark.

Washington moves to 10-14 and 3-2 in Big Ten play while Maryland improves to 12-11 and 2-3 in the conference.

Both starting pitchers brought their best stuff on Saturday night, as Jackson Thomas pitched 5.0 innings with only one run allowed, four hits, and three strikeouts. Maryland's starter Logan Hastings tossed 7.2 innings, allowing one run and three hits as well.

The Huskies lone run came in the fourth inning when Colton Bower used a sacrifice fly to bring home AJ Guerrero from third. The run tied the game at one apiece.

Maryland took the lead again in the seventh and held onto the advantage through the end of the game.

Isaac Yeager pitched the remaining four innings of the game after taking over for Jackson Thomas. The right-hander allowed one run against only two hits and three strikeouts.

Washington's defense was on display throughout the game. In the opening inning, Malakhi Knight prevented a Maryland run from scoring by throwing out a runner tagging up from third.
