Kamendje Victorious At Gonzaga Invitational

SEATTLE – Husky sophomore Stephane Kamendje fought his way to the Gonzaga Fall Invitational title at the Stevens Center today. Kamendje won the blue singles draw, which featured the players with the highest World Tennis Numbers.
Kamendje, the native of Montreal, Canada, beat Portland's Nikola Keremedchiev in the final today, 6-4, 6-4.
He began his run with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Oscar Rashed of Gonzaga, and then pulled out a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) win on Saturday over Chetanna Amadike of Idaho.
In the red singles draw, sophomore Nikola Plavsic fell in the first round, 6-2, 6-3, to Lucas Kimelman of Portland. He also had a 7-5, 6-1 consolation loss to Gabriel Moroder of Idaho.
Kamendje and Plavsic lost their first round doubles match to Amadike and Moroder of Idaho, then went 1-1 in consolation matches.
