November 19, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — Washington women's basketball (4-0, 0-0 Big Ten) defeated Fresno State (3-2, 0-0 Mountain West) 61-43 in a Wednesday evening match-up in Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies were exceptional on the defensive end of the floor, forcing 28 Bulldogs turnovers. It was the first time Washington had forced over 25 turnovers since it did so against San Diego on Nov. 12, 2021. UW recorded six blocks and 13 steals.
Washington limited Fresno State to its lowest first-half scoring total of the season with 20 points. The Bulldogs connected on just three shots in the first quarter, and finished the opening frame with eight points.
Coming off a performance in which junior guard Sayvia Sellers was named a Big Ten and USBWA Player of the Week, she followed it up with 14 points and a season-high eight assists, along with three blocks and three steals.
Sophomore guard Avery Howell also joined her in double-digits, registering 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Freshman guard Sienna Harvey tacked on another nine points.
The Huskies took control by halftime, using a fast break from Sellers in the final seconds to take a 37-20 lead entering the break. From there, sophomore Devin Coppinger added eight points in the second half — including a tough and-1 to give the Huskies their biggest lead of the night — to help Washington secure for the win.
Next up, UW hosts Vermont on Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m.
