
Five Dawgs Set To Compete In NCAA Individual Championships

SEATTLE – Reece Carter, Alexia Jacobs, Erika Matsuda, Carina Syrtveit and Marie Weissheim head to Orlando, Fla. for the NCAA Individual Championships held at the USTA National Campus.
The five Dawgs are the most representatives in program history to make an appearance in the NCAA Individual Championships. Washington is one of six programs in the nation to send five or more student-athletes to the championship.
Matsuda is the 11th Husky – and the 13th time overall it has happened – to compete in singles and doubles in the same year at the NCAA Championships and the first since Stacey Fung in 2019.
Action gets underway on Tuesday with singles. Matsuda opens up against Syracuse's Ashton Bowers – who ranks 80th in the ITA rankings – at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. Carter begins her run against Auburn's Ashton Bowers – who ranks 48th in the ITA rankings – at 2:30 p.m. PT/5:30 p.m. ET.
The two doubles pairs – Matsuda/Syrtveit, Weissheim/Jacobs – will get underway on Wednesday in the Round of 32 on Wednesday. Times will be determined following matches on Tuesday.
