SALT LAKE CITY - Washington women's basketball (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) earned a big 72-61 win at Utah (3-1, 0-0 Big 12) Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City.
The Dawgs battled all afternoon, overcoming an early deficit to lead by double-digits in the second half. UW began to take control in the third quarter, when it held the Utes to just four made shots — all of which were inside the 3-point line.
Sayvia Sellers led the way with a 30-point performance, her second in as many seasons against Utah. She added four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks to stuff the stat sheet.
Hannah Stines nearly recorded a double-double, notching 14 points and eight rebounds.
Washington was impressive on the defensive end of the floor as well, with its 13 steals the most since it faced Idaho State on November 24, 2023. It was the most against a Power Four opponent since it recorded 16 against Cal on December 4, 2020. Stines, Teagan Brown, and Avery Howell each recorded three steals.
The Huskies continued their impressive performance on the boards, out-rebounding the Utes 38 to 31. Washington collected 12 offensive boards, which it turned into 10 second chance points.
Brown, Howell, and Brynn McGaughy each contributed another six points, while Howell dished out four assists.
Saturday's win marked Washington's third straight true road win dating back to last season, and second straight win against the Utes in Salt Lake City.
Next up, Washington returns home to host Fresno State on Wednesday, November 19 at 6:00 p.m.
