INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) named junior guard Sayvia Sellers one of the five Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week honorees after she helped Washington record two wins while tying her career-high of 30 points against Utah.
Sellers has been exceptional on the offensive end of the floor this season, as she currently ranks first among Big Ten players in made field goals (9.7) and second in points per game (23.3). Nationally, the junior is sixth in made field goals per game and tied for ninth in points per game.
Saturday's performance was the second time in as many seasons that Sellers dropped 30 points against the Utes. While she set a new career-high with 12 made field goals in the 72-61 road win, she also made a difference on the defensive end of the floor, recording two steals and two blocks in the contest.
Of the Huskies' seven 30-point performances since 2020, Sellers has recorded three of them.
During the 87-56 win against Montana, Sellers pieced together an efficient performance — finishing 8-for-13 from the floor (61.5%) for 19 points and five assists in just 18 minutes of action. Over the two wins last week, she averaged 24.5 points while shooting 55.6% from the floor.
Saturday's performance marks the fourth time a Washington player has scored 30 or more points in a game in the last two seasons. The only other player to do it, Elle Ladine, was also awarded USBWA National Player of the Week honors last year, marking the second straight season the Huskies have had a player recognized.
Additionally, Sellers was recognized as a Big Ten Player of the Week and named an AP Women's Basketball Player of the Week honorable mention.
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Sellers was also selected among 50 standout women's college basketball players for the 2025-26 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Preseason Watch List. Members of the association's board of directors chose the players for consideration for the National Player of the Year.
Next up, Washington hosts Fresno State on Wednesday. Opening tip from Alaska Airlines Arena is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
