November 17, 2025 | Women's Basketball
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Junior guard Sayvia Sellers became the first Washington player to be named conference Player of the Week in five years on Monday afternoon. The Big Ten awarded her the honor after she matched her career-high of 30 points against Utah and averaged 24.5 points during a two-game stretch.
Sellers was instrumental in the win against the Utes, recording her second 30-point performance in as many seasons against the former conference rival. She kept the Huskies competitive throughout, scoring 14 points in the second quarter to help them take the lead, and later scoring back-to-back buckets in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to double-digits.
She also made a difference on the defensive end of the floor, recording two blocks and two steals on Saturday.
Earlier in the week, Sellers was equally impressive on the offensive end of the floor against Montana, leading Washington with 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting (61.5%) and five assists in just 18 minutes.
Sellers has now finished with double-digit points in each game this season, and has done so in eight straight games, a streak that dates back to Minnesota on Feb. 26, 2025.
The junior is averaging 23.3 points per game, a mark that is second in the Big Ten Conference and No. 11 nationally. Her 9.7 made field goals per game is tied for No. 6 in the country.
The honor is the first in Sellers' career, and she becomes the first Husky to earn conference Player of the Week recognition since Amber Melgoza in 2019-20.
Washington welcomes Fresno State to Alaska Airlines Arena on Wednesday, before hosting Vermont on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tip-off against the Bulldogs is set for 6:00 p.m. and will stream on Big Ten Plus.
