SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Back at San Diego for the second week in a row, the Huskies opened play at the USTA SoCal Intercollegiates with three victories in singles play. Brett Pearson, Rohan Belday, and Stephane Kamendje all advanced into Friday's main draw of 32 with straight set wins.

Pearson and Belday each had wins over Loyola Marymount opponents. Pearson defeated Alexander Nothdurft, 7-5, 6-1. Belday eased past Alejandro Padro, 6-3, 6-1. Kamendje, in his fall season opener, denied Utah State's Eliot Nobel a prize, winning 6-4, 6-1. Freshman Daniel Bien had a tight three set loss to Dylan Charlap of Northwestern, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Bien and Kamendje also teamed up in doubles in the qualifying round, but failed to advance, falling 1-6 to Padro/Messerli of LMU.

The round of 32 in singles starts on Friday at the Hogan Tennis Center.
