Huskies Battle On Day Two Of SoCal Intercollegiates

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Washington continued play on day two of the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships on Friday at the Hogan Tennis Center in San Diego. Stephane Kamendje and Daniel Bien each picked up singles wins.
Kamendje was one of three Huskies in the main singles draw, and the one to advance to the second round. He defeated Tristan Berard of Grand Canyon, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. He dropped his second match of the day, 6-4, 6-1, to Jovan Lubbe of Cal Poly.
Brett Pearson and Rohan Belday each came up short in closely contested singles matches in round one.
In consolation singles play, freshman Daniel Bien beat Alexander Nothdurft of LMU, 7-6, 6-1.
Pearson and Belday played doubles together but fell, 4-6, to a UC Santa Barbara duo in the main draw opening round.
