
Huskies Open 2024-25 Season At Home With Seattle U

SEATTLE – Washington women's basketball (0-0, 0-0 Big Ten) opens the 2024-25 season at home on Monday, Nov. 4 when the Dawgs host Seattle University (0-0, 0-0 WAC) in Alaska Airlines Arena.
The home opener will tipoff at 6 p.m. PT and will be available on B1G+ with Elise Woodward and Alyssa Charlston on the call. Gary Hill will call the game on 1090 KPTR-AM.
UW has won its last six season openers and eight of its last nine.
LAST SEASON
The Huskies began last season with an historic 11-0 start, which tied the best start in program history. The last and only other time was the 1976-77 season.
The Huskies secured four wins over AP-ranked opponents last season, three of them on the road. The last time UW had four wins over AP-ranked opponents was 2016-17. This season also marked the first time in program history that the Dawgs won three games on the road at ranked opponents.
SCOUTING REPORT
The Redhawks finished last season with a 6-23 record, with all six of those wins coming in conference play. SU finished ninth out of 11 teams in the WAC and were 6-14 in league action.
This is the 26th matchup all-time between these two teams and UW holds the advantage, 22-3. The Huskies are 12-1 at home against the Redhawks and 10-2 on the road.
THE TEAM
Returners – Washington returns eight from last year's team including four starters – Dalayah Daniels, Elle Ladine, Hannah Stines, and Sayvia Sellers. Teagan Brown, Shayla Gillmer, Chloe Briggs, and Olivia Anderson will also return for Washington. Daniels, Ladine, and Sellers all received conference honors at the conclusion of last season.
Newcomers – Three new Dawgs join the squad ahead of the upcoming season – freshman guard Devin Coppinger, graduate student transfer Brenna McDonald, and senior transfer Tayra Eke. The 2024 recruiting class ranks No. 5 in the nation according to ESPN, marking the third consecutive Top-15 recruiting class for Coach Langley and her staff.
The Husky coaching staff also brought in some new additions, with three new coaches joining the squad - Associate Head Coach David Adkins, assistant coach Aleah Goodman, and assistant coach and former Husky standout Lauren Schwartz.
A NEW LOOK AT A NEW LEAGUE
The Huskies will begin their inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference in 2024-25, officially joining the league on August 2, 2024, along with fellow former-Pac-12 schools Oregon, UCLA, and USC - making the conference now 18 teams.
Nine of the current Big Ten programs made NCAA Tournament appearances in the 2023-24 season.
