Despite things being relatively even at the half, Washington ended up with a lopsided 20-10 advantage in attempts on goal, outshooting the Vandals 12-4.
Rookie Radisson Banks gave the Dawgs an early lead in the 17th minute, blasting a rocket from outside the 18 upper 90, registering the first goal of the 2023 season for the Huskies.

Washington continued to pressure the Vandal back line in search of a second, and would ultimately hold a slim 8-6 advantage in shots through the first half, but Idaho leveled the match in the 40th minute on a headed goal.
At the break, nothing separated the two sides at a goal apiece, setting up a final 45 with everything on the line.
Coming out of the intermission strong, the Huskies separated themselves in the second half.
Just under seven minutes after the restart, Banks found Jadyn Holdenried free in the center of the pitch. The true freshman set herself up on her right peg, ripping a shot into the right corner from 20 yards out to recapture the lead.

In the 71st minute, Chloe Seelhoff gave the Huskies some insurance, taking a feed from Kolo Suliafu and tucking a shot inside the left corner to put the Dawgs up 3-1.

A few minutes later, the Vandals came within inches of cutting the lead to one, stinging the crossbar with a shot from distance, but would get no closer as the Huskies picked up their first win of the season.
Washington returns to Seattle for four-straight home matches at Husky Soccer Stadium, starting with a matchup with No. 19 Santa Clara Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m. PT.
