SEATTLE – Championship track and field is back this weekend, as Washington looks to make its mark at the 2023 Pac-12 Championships this Friday through Sunday, May 12-14. This year's meet is held on neutral ground, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif., home of the Mt. SAC Relays, which many Huskies competed at earlier this season. Pac-12 Networks will provide selected coverage of the meet.

Friday's opening day gets going with the multi-events at 1:30 p.m. then the first field event final (men's hammer) starts at 2:30 p.m and track events get underway at 6 p.m. The only track finals on Friday are the 10,000-meters starting at 7:55 p.m.

Saturday, the multis start their final day at 11:30 a.m. and the field events get going again at 12:30, with track action starting at 4 p.m. and ending with the steeplechase finals at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday the first field event is at 11 a.m. and running events begin at 1 p.m. with all finals until the meet ends at 4:30 p.m.

The UW men were runners-up last year and third-place in 2021, scoring over 100 points in each meet for just the second and third time in school history.

The Dawgs will try to take the final step and grab the team title this year, but many teams enter the meet with the same idea of unseating 15-year champion Oregon. The Huskies are ranked 10th, tops in the league, but five more teams follow in the Top-25: No. 13 Arizona State, No. 17 Stanford, No. 19 USC, No. 20 California, No. 25 Arizona and Oregon won't lose its crown without a fight.

On the women's side, the Huskies have had three-straight top-five finishes, including a third-place finish in 2021 that was the highest in program history.

The women's team battle has Oregon and USC as the favorites as they rank No. 4 and No. 5 respectively, followed by No. 14 Utah and No. 15 Oregon State and No. 17 Stanford. The Huskies are currently 24th on the women's side.

The Huskies have three defending conference champs returning to this year's meet, and a fourth who is focusing on different events. Cass Elliott is the top seed again in the 400-meter hurdles, as is Joe Waskom in the 1,500-meters, while Carley Thomas comes in seeded No. 2 in the 800-meters. Brian Fay, last year's steeplechase champion, is entered in the 10k and the 5k this year.
