April 02, 2023 | Baseball
SEATTLE – Washington (18-8, 5-4 Pac-12) got a much-needed bounce back win on Sunday, taking down Oregon State (18-10, 5-7 Pac-12) 7-2 on getaway day at Husky Ballpark.
Husky starter Jared Engman went six complete to collect the win, striking out a season high five batters with just two runs (one earned) allowed. Josh Emanuels finished the final three innings to earn his third save, striking out four with just a single hit surrendered.
Will Simpson got the Huskies on the board early, crushing a no doubt solo jack in the first to give UW its first lead of the series. Oregon State, however, answered with an unearned run on a wild pitch in the second.
The Beavers took the lead in the third on Travis Bazzana's blast, a solo homer to give OSU a brief 2-1 lead.
The Dawgs answered right back, plating a pair on an error and a ground ball in the fourth to regain the advantage at 3-2.
AJ Guerrero added a run of insurance in the seventh, clobbering a solo bomb 400 feet to left center. Cam Clayton added another run in the frame, lifting a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Jeter Ybarra.
Michael Snyder scored on a wild pitch in the eighth and Emanuels closed things out in the ninth, locking up the win for Washington.
