SERIES HISTORY VS. PORTLAND
Having played each other dating all the way back to 1939, Washington and Portland have met up 153 times, with the Huskies holding a 101-51-1 advantage in the all-time series. Tuesday's tilt will be the 63rd matchup between the two sides in Portland, with UW coming out on top in 35 of those games. The Dawgs have won three straight against the Pilots in Stumptown, including last season's 7-3 victory.
LORD HAD NO MERCY
After throwing six perfect innings in Saturday's 6-0 shutout win over Northern Colorado, Kiefer Lord was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, becoming the first Husky to receive the honor since Josh Burgmann in 2019. The righty retired all 18 batters he faced against UNC, striking out 10 of them to set a high in a Husky uniform. The San Carlos, California, native has allowed just one run over his last two outings, going six complete frames in both.
THAT'S OFFENSIVE
The Dawgs put up astonishing numbers during their four-game series with Northern Colorado. Most notably was the school-record 32 runs scored in the series opener. Those 32 runs are the second most scored by one team in an NCAA Division I game this season (William & Mary, 33 runs) and more than 18 teams have scored all season. However, the gaudy numbers don't end there.
The Huskies outscored the Bears 57-12 for the series, batting .388 as a team with 15 doubles, six home runs, 51 RBIs, 26 walks, 16 HBPs and a .513 team on-base percentage. Five different UW players raised their batting average by at least 50 percentage points, including McKay Barney (500), Sam DeCarlo (140), AJ Guerrero (92), Cole Miller (75) and Johnny Tincher (73).

Meanwhile, is close behind in seventh with a 1.69 ERA and ranks fifth in the conference with 24 strikeouts. Lord and Flesland rank second and third in the Pac-12 in WHIP at 0.71 and 0.75, respectively.
THE PEN IS MIGHTIER
The combination of Josh Emanuels and Case Matter has been a dynamic one at the back end of Washington's bullpen. Both Emanuels and Matter have picked up two saves on the year, tied for third most in the Pac-12. Emanuels has yet to allow an earned run through five appearances and 9.0 innings, striking out 10 and allowing just four hits. Meanwhile, Matter has surrendered a single earned run over 8.0 innings on four appearances and 8.0 innings, striking out 11 batters.
PATIENCE PAYS
Both AJ Guerrero and Coby Morales rank inside the top-10 in the Pac-12 walks, with Guerrero ranking second in the league with 14 free passes and Morales close behind in sixth with 10 bases on balls.
SLAMMIN' SAMMY

EYES ON THE PROS
During the preseason, ProspectsLive.com listed four under-the-radar college pitchers that "move" like big leaguers, with half the list being made up by Huskies in Carleton College transfer Kiefer Lord and redshirt sophomore Case Matter.
ProspectsLive.com On Lord:
"Lord checks a ton of boxes in scouting circles. He's got a super-loose, whippy arm that is just now starting to show what it's capable of... Lord brushed 98 and 99 a couple times and appears poised to see his stuff move into the mid-90s this season."
ProspectsLive.com On Matter:
"Metrically, this kid checks a lot of boxes. He produces exceptional carry on his four-seam fastball and can rush it up to 96 at peak... Scouts love the way Matter moves. He's got big intent and aggressiveness, but he keeps it controlled. The kid clearly has feel for pitching and a feel for his delivery.
