October 01, 2023 | Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. โ At the end of three-straight weeks on the road, the Husky volleyball team had plenty of grit left to grind out a four-set victory over Oregon State today at Gill Coliseum. Washington had a season-high 14 blocks and got a career-high 24 digs from junior libero Lauren Bays in a tense 20-25, 25-10, 26-24, 26-24 win.
ย
Washington (10-5, 1-3 Pac-12) outhit the Beavers (5-9, 0-4 Pac-12) by a comfortable margin, .293 to .200, but a lot of that difference came in a dominant set two win. The Huskies had to come up clutch late in sets three and four to seal the victory. The teams finished with 58 kills apiece.
ย
Madi Endsley, Kierstyn Barton, and May Pertofsky did nearly all the offensive damage for the Dawgs. Endsley came off the bench to lead the way with 18 kills, hitting .350. Barton had 17 kills including two key kills at the end of the fourth set to give UW match point with each one. Pertofsky didn't make one error while posting 16 kills, hitting .444.
ย

Endsley's six kills led the way as UW hit .233 and OSU was held to .191.
ย
Set Four: OSU regained momentum with a 4-0 run early in the fourth. The Dawgs quickly answered as Hani had a solo block to get to 4-all. Oregon State came back to tie it, but UW kept siding out to stay one step ahead. Barton had a booming crosscourt kill for match point at 24-23, but OSU saved it. Barton then went offspeed to get another kill for 25-24. An attack error wide from the Beavers finished things, 26-24.
