January 28, 2023 | Men's Basketball
SEATTLE (AP) – Keion Brooks Jr. and Keyon Menifield each scored over 20 points but No. 6 Arizona used a big second-half run to pull away for a 95-72 win over Washington on Saturday.
It was the fourth time in the last five games Brooks reached 20 points, this time coming on a career-high four threes. The Huskies (13-10, 5-7 Pac-12) made eight three-pointers as a team, stretching their streak of games with at least seven made threes to eight.
Washington pulled within ten with just over seven minutes to play but could not get any closer.
The game was tied at 40 a few minutes into the second half following a Menifield jumper. The freshman had ten first-half points and the Huskies led for nearly the entire first half and were up by as many as nine in front of a sold out crowd at Hec Ed.
Washington shot over 40 percent for the fourth time in six games.
Jamal Bey played in his 141st game, breaking a tie with Darnell Grant for the most games played in program history.
Head Coach Mike Hopkins on turning the page to the team's pending matchup against No. 8 UCLA: "We've responded well this season and we're going to respond well again."
The Huskies head to Los Angeles to wrap up the season series against UCLA and USC. UW will start the trip against No. 8 UCLA Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on FS1.
