Huskies Fall To Stanford On Sunday Afternoon
February 06, 2022 | Men's Basketball
STANFORD, Calif. – The Washington men's basketball team looked to make it four wins in a row on Sunday at Stanford, but ultimately fell to a hot-shooting Cardinal team by a score of 87-69.
After Stanford made a flurry of shots to open the game and take a 15-2 lead, the Huskies would punch right back.
PJ Fuller hit back-to-back threes before Terrell Brown Jr. stole an inbound pass and put it home for an 8-0 run in 41 seconds.
Two more buckets by Brown Jr. followed by a Nate Roberts dunk would make it just a 17-16 advantage for the Cardinal.
Stanford would answer with an 8-0 run of its own to stretch its lead back to 9 points. Later in the half, Cole Bajema would hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit back to 7, but that would be as close as UW would get the rest of the day.
The Cardinal used a blistering 61.5% mark from three to take a 13-point at halftime.
While the Huskies picked up the defense in the second half -- holding Stanford to 21.4% from deep -- it was not enough, as the home side made enough shots to hold off UW and secure the win.
Individually, Terrell Brown Jr. had another monster game. He finished with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals, becoming the first Pac-12 player since at least 2010 to put up those numbers in a single game.
Washington returns to the court at Alaska Airlines Arena on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. against Arizona State.
