Brown Jr. and Bey Lead Huskies To Second Straight Pac-12 Win

SEATTLE -- Behind 25 points from Terrell Brown Jr., four threes by Jamal Bey and a rowdy student section, the Washington men's basketball team won its second straight conference game, beating Stanford 67-64 on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies have made a habit of starting games fast in Pac-12 play, but they took things to the next level against the Cardinal.
It was Jamal Bey providing the scoring early, hitting an early three, then grabbing a steal and converting an and-1.
Later in the half, Bey would hit three more three-pointers to propel the Huskies on a 13-0 run that saw them take a commanding 39-17 lead.
When it was all said and done, Bey had 17 first half points and UW had a 43-25 halftime lead.
Having just erased a 12-point deficit at Washington State two days prior, it was clear that Stanford would not go down without a fight.
The Cardinal chipped away in the second half, going on a 10-0 run to cut the UW lead to 6 with 8:16 remaining. However, Daejon Davis would answer with a big three-pointer to end the run and give the home side breathing room.
Stanford got it down to 4 points with under two minutes remaining, but Terrell Brown Jr. got the free throw line and made both shots.
After Brown Jr. made another free throw to give the Huskies a 66-63 lead with 15 seconds left, the team delivered on the biggest possession of the night. With Stanford looking for a three-pointer to tie the game, Emmitt Matthews Jr. fouled the Cardinal ball-handler on the floor with 2.8 second left. This forced Stanford to intentionally miss the second free throw, but it did not hit the rim and Washington would get to inbound. After Cole Bajema went 1-for-2 from the line, The Cardinal's full-court heave missed wide and UW secured the win.
Terrell Brown Jr. finished with 25 points in the game, his 9th 20-point effort of the season and continuing his streak of double-digits in every game this season.
Washington is back in action next weekend, visiting Oregon State on Thursday night.
