
Multis Lead Off For Huskies In Arizona

SEATTLE - The Husky multi-eventers will blaze a trail in Arizona this week, kicking off the Jim Click Shootout with the heptathlon and decathlon this Thursday and Friday before the rest of the Husky road squad competes in a full day of competition on Saturday.
This will be the first outdoor multi competitions for the Huskies since the 2019 season. All-Americans Hannah Rusnak and Lyndsey Lopes will compete in the women's heptathlon, and Pac-12 scorer Parker Kennedy goes for the men along with Ollie Thorner, set for his first collegiate decathlon competition. Husky volunteer coach Tim Duckworth will also be in the field.
Thursday's competition will kick off at 10:30 a.m. PT beginning with the heptathlon 100m hurdles followed by the decathlon 100m dash at 11:00 a.m.
Other schools competing in the combined events will be Air Force, BYU, California, Oregon, Texas Tech and Washington.
Saturday, the meet gets going in the field events at 1 p.m. with the hammer throw, and the first track events are set for 5:20 p.m.
Making the trip for Saturday's events are the Husky sprinters, throwers, and a few jumpers and vaulters. On the men's side, the group includes Julian Body, Evan Mafilas, Kemuel Santana, and Cass Elliott for the sprinters, and Jonah Wilson, Jayden White, Dalton Sugg, Connor Jost, Sam Van Peursem, and returning to his home state, Elijah Mason.
The women's throws crew will include MaKayla Kelby, Beatrice Asomaning, Ginny Mehl, Kathleen Horn, Tanya Simora, and Natalie Holmer. Women's sprinters traveling are Aaliyah Wilson, Olivia Ribera, Victoria Gersch, and Darhian Mills. Makenna Barton and Ashleigh Helms will enter in the vault and Lauren Heggen will triple jump for the women.
