
Huskies Swept by OSU in Three-Game Series

SEATTLE -- The Washington Huskies (8-13, 0-6) dropped their third straight game to No. 21 Oregon State on Monday evening, falling by a score of 13-3.
After a scoreless first inning, the Beavers jumped on UW starter Stu Flesland III with a three-run home run to open the scoring.
The Huskies responded in the home half of the second, as Christian Jones launched a triple deep into the right-center field gap that scored Will Simpson from first.Β
Oregon State keptΒ the pressure on, as the Beavers used a two-run home run in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead.Β
They blew the game open in the fourth, as they scored 6 unearned runs to make it an 11-1 advantage.Β
With the score 13-1 in the bottom of the eighth, UW was able to string together a rally to get a couple of runs on the board. After defensive replacements Michael Snyder and Carson Blatnick singled and walked to lead off the inning, Cole Miller singled to left field to score Snyder. WithΒ the bases loaded, Karl Koerper drew a walk to bring home Blatnick.Β
That would complete the scoring on the night, as Gabe Smith kept Oregon State at bay, throwing 1.2 innings without giving up a run, pushing his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 13.2. Davis Delorefice threw a scoreless ninth, and has yet to give up an earned run in his 10.0 innings out of the bullpen.Β
Washington returns to action on Thursday, as the Huskies travel to face No. 10 UCLA in a three-game series at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles.Β
