SEATTLE – The #8 Washington Huskies used patience at the plate to defeat the Seattle U Redhawks 4-1 Saturday. All three of Washington's 1-2-3 hitters in Sis Bates, Baylee Klingler, and Sami Reynolds scored runs, while Klingler, Reynolds, and Morganne Flores had multiple hits.

Washington drew 11 three-ball counts and worked the count full nine times today, all while allowing Seattle U to reach a three-ball count just once in the game. Eight times Washington batters managed seven or more pitches in a single at-bat.

Reynolds and Kelley Lynch each had ten-pitch walks, while Kaija Gibson worked an eight-pitch walk. Washington saw 43 pitches in the third inning alone.

The Huskies were also their usual dangerous selves on the basepaths. Washington stole four bases in the game, making it 22 consecutive successful steals by the Huskies, including nine steals this weekend during the Husky Classic.

Gabbie Plain retired the final five batters she faced as she ran her record to 11-0 with the complete-game victory. Four times she retired the side in order, striking out the side three times.

Only one opponent, Nevada, has scored multiple runs on Plain this year. In her 11 starts, Plain has allowed three total runs. The five baserunners allowed by Plain were her most since allowing six in a complete-game win over San Diego State, a span of seven appearances. Plain had not allowed more than two baserunners in five straight appearances before today.

		SCORING
Third Inning: The Huskies manufactured some runs in the third. First, Espinoza broke the scoreless tie with a sacrifice fly, her fourth sac fly of 2021. Then, Flores baited a throw to second to allow Reynolds to steal home and make it 2-0. Fourth Inning: Seattle U's RBI double ended Washington's scoreless streak at 18 innings and ended Plain's career-long shutout streak of the Redhawks after 17.1 innings. Fourth Inning: Klingler and Reynolds drove in runs in back-to-back at-bats. Klingler had a sac fly, then Reynolds laced a single that allowed Bates to jog home for a 4-1 lead.

		NOTES
Klingler (2x3, R, RBI) extended her hit streak to eight games, one off her career long. Flores (2x3, SB) had zero steals in her first 209 career games. She has two in her last four games. Bates (1x4, R, SB) tied Rosie Leutzinger for sixth in Husky history in hits with her 279^th. Reynolds (2x3, R, RBI, 2 SB) had her fifth multi-hit game in the last six. Washington has stolen multiple bases in four straight games, with 15 steals in that time. Plain (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 14 K) has struck out the side 21 times this year. In her three career starts against Seattle U, Plain has a 0.33 ERA, with 37 strikeouts and eight total baserunners allowed.

Washington finishes the Husky Classic with one game against Portland State at 12:00 pm Sunday. That game will be streamed live on the Washington live stream.
