
No. 3 Huskies Use Brace From Teves To Defeat UCLA 3-0

Welcoming back Christian Soto and Achille Robin to the starting eleven, the Huskies were ready for action and controlled the flow of the match early on. Through the first 20 minutes, UW had a number of opportunities, having multiple shots blocked, one go off the crossbar and a Teves opportunity saved.
Finally, a breakthrough would come in the 22nd minute. After winning the ball in the defensive end, Christian Soto flipped the field and dished it to Gio Miglietti, who delivered a beautiful one-touch ball to Teves, would calmly slotted it home for the opening goal.

The Bruins were undeterred, and had a quick response, as they would soon begin to control possession in the UW defensive zone. They won a free kick in the 29th minute from a dangerous spot and it was up to Sam Fowler to step up. He was up for the challenge, making a diving save on a beautiful shot by UCLA's Pietro Grassi.

At the end of 45 minutes, the Huskies held a 1-0 lead, while maintaining big advantages in shots (15-4) and shots on goal (8-3).
The second half saw a dramatic change in the flow of the game, as UCLA threatened with multiple close chances. Fowler stood his ground mulitple times, making an incredible save on a curling shot that would have tied the game.

Once UW weathered that storm, things started to open up on the offensive end of the field. The Huskies were rewarded for their relentless pressure when Ryan Sailor was the first to a blocked Lucas Meek shot, made a move and calmly finished it off for his fifth goal of the season.

With the result all but decided, UW found a third goal thanks to the work of Lucas Meek and Dylan Teves.
Meek bombed down the left side of the field and took the ball towards the box beofer finding the waiting feet of Teves, who finished through traffic for his second goal of the night and sixth of the season.

Thursday marked the second-career brace for Teves, who tied career highs with 2 goals and four points, with each of those being career bests in Pac-12 play for him.
In the net, Sam Fowler had a night to remember. His six saves were the most in a match this season for him and tied a career high. His 45 saves this year are now the most he's had in a season at Washington.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday afternoon when they visit San Diego State in their penultimate match of the season.
