Huskies Pick Up Two Wins Over Seattle To Open Spring Slate

SEATTLE --- The Washington men's tennis team picked up a pair of 7-0 wins over Seattle University to open the 2020 spring season on Saturday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies open the season at 2-0 while dropping the Redhawks to 0-2.
In the first match, Alexis Alvarez and Jack Pulliam got a quick win at No. 3 doubles thanks to a 6-0 victory. Jack Davis and Ewen Lumsden followed closely after with a 6-1 win at No. 1 while Liam Puttergill and Adam Torocsik rounded out doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
A pair of Huskies won quickly in singles play Brandon Wong took his match at No. 5 6-1, 6-0 followed by Ewen Lumsden with a quick 6-0, 6-0 win on No. 1. Newcomer Liam Puttergill clinched the match in his first action at UW with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 with Jack Pulliam recording a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 in his first dual with the Huskies. Kasper Smith earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 with Jack Davis rounding things out with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
In the second match of the day, the doubles contests were again heavily in the favor of the Huskies with Davis and Lumsden first off with a 6-1 win at No. 1. That was closely followed by Smith and Brandon Wong earning a 6-1 win at No. 3 with Alvarez and Lam rounding things out with a 6-2 win at No. 2.
Wong continued to make quick work in singles, scoring a 6-0, 6-2 win at No.3 singles. Davis followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win of his own at No. 1 just before Ewen Lumsden clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Pulliam cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles with Kailuhia Lam pulling out a 6-2, 6-3 win for his first collegiate dual win. Alexis Alvarez closed out the day with a nice come-back win at No. 5, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-1.
Washington returns to the courts on Jan .17, hosting Michigan in a match at 5:00 p.m. in the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
