Washington Falls 2-0 In Texas
September 13, 2019 | Women's Soccer
AUSTIN, Texas – The Washington Huskies took their first road loss of 2019, falling 2-0 to the Texas Longhorns after two second-half goals. It was just the second time all year that Washington has allowed multiple goals in a single game and the only time Washington has lost by more than a goal. The Huskies are now 2-2-2 overall.
Summer Yates was on fire in the first half, twice coming within a fingertip of a goal. In the eighth minute, yates sent a free kick from above the box toward goal, only to have it touched just over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Yates' ripped a volley at goal past the keeper but over the bar by inches.
Washington earned seven corners in the first half alone, then came out of halftime with four shots in the first 12 minutes. That included two curving shots, by Yates and Hussen, that narrowly missed the far post.
Dani Hansen made three saves in the game, including an excellent leap to her left to push away a shot in the 60th minute.
The Huskies would end the game with 13 total shots, nine in the second half, and four shots on goal.
