Huskies Cruise Past Seattle Pacific 5-1 in Exhibition

SEATTLE --- Blake Bodily scored a pair of first half goals while Jaret Townsend recorded a pair of assists as Washington took down Seattle Pacific 5-1 in an exhibition match on Wednesday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.
Bodily got the Huskies going with a goal just nine minutes in, finishing from just in the front of the goal mouth off a great cross from Townsend. In the 24th minute, a UW player was fouled in the box off a corner kick leading to a Washington penalty. Bodily stepped up and beat the keeper from the spot with an off-speed shot right down the middle.
The Falcons would get a goal back shortly just under eight minutes later, taking advantage of a similar foul in the box off a corner was was given to the Huskies. Titus Grant would step up and convert the PK to make it a 2-1 game.
The score would remain that way into the 77th minute when Townsend would again send a great cross into the box where freshman Imanol Rosales finished from the far side with a low shot.
Four minutes later, the Huskies would add another from the spot with Ethan Bartlow taking the PK and converting with a hard shot to the right.
In the final 10 seconds, SPU committed a foul just at the top of the box. Michael Rojas stepped up and banged a brilliant shot around the wall to the top left corner to cap the scoring.
Washington held a 22-6 shot advantage in the contest and a 58%-42% edge in possession.throughout the game.
The two teams played an extra 30 minute period after the conclusion of regulation with Washington's reserves adding two more goals. Ryan DeGroot got into the action with a header just in front of the box five minutes into the session with freshman Nick Scardina adding another goal late in the period.
The Huskies travel to Spokane on Monday to take on Gonzaga in a final exhibition before opening the season against No. 18 Denver on Friday, August 30, at 7:00 p.m.
