Huskies Drop Road Match At Michigan 5-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. --- The Washington men's tennis team lost to No. 16 Michigan 5-2 on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 2-4 on the season.
The Wolverines took the doubles point to begin the match, taking a 1-0 lead. Johnston and Brown defeated sophomore Jack Davis and senior Piers Foley 7-6.
The freshman tandem of Ewen Lumsden and Ernesto Turegano beat Tishman and Maloney 6-4.
Siimar and Fenty took down senior Kawika Lam and senior Enzo Sommer 7-6 to give Michigan a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Washington would win two out of six singles matches.
Davis fell to 79th ranked Fenty 2-6, 4-6 as the Wolverines took a 2-0 lead.
Lumsden then defeated Brown 6-4, 6-2 to reduce the Michigan lead to one point.
The next match to finish was on Court 4 as Turegano lost to Maloney 4-6, 3-6.
Foley won his match on Court 3 as he defeated Johnson 7-5, 7-5 to reduce to Michigan deficit to one point again at 3-2.
Sommer lost to the 113th ranked Siimar 5-7, 2-6 as Michigan earned their fourth point, clinching the victory.
In the remaining match on Court 6, Hawken lost to Kristopher Siimar 7-6, 3-6, 4-10.
Washington will remain on the road as they travel to Wisconsin to face the Badgers on Feb. 10 at 9:00 a.m. PST.
