
Blake Bodily Named Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

SEATTLE --- Washington junior midfielder Blake Bodily has been named as a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy announced by the United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club on Tuesday.

The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.

Bodily has had a breakout season in 2019, ranking among the nation's best players with 12 goals and six assists on the season. He has already earned several awards including being named the Pac-12 Player of the Year in Novemberβthe first for a UW player since 2007.

Bodily has caught fire at the end of the season, scoring eight goals over his last eight matches including a goal in each of Washington's first two playoff matches. His 12 goals are the most in a season by a Husky since Ely Allen recorded 12 in 2007 and his 30 points (12g, 6a) are the most in 13 years. Bodily has tallied a point in 14 of 18 matches he has played in this year and has 18 points over his last eight matches including two goals and an assist through the Husky's first two NCAA Tournament matches.

Bodily, who was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year two seasons ago, earned Pac-12 First Team honors for the third-straight season. He has twice earned National Team of the Week honors and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in late October.

Bodily is the first Husky to be a semifinalist for the Hermann Award and is one of 15 NCAA Division I student-athletes selected as a semifinalist with three finalists announced next Friday, Dec. 13 in conjunction with the College Cup. Both the men's and women's winners will be announced on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Banquet in St. Louis, Mo.

Washington continues one of its best records in program history, posting a 17-3-0 record and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for just the second time. The Huskies, who have won their most games since 1983, travel to Washington D.C. to face Georgetown on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 9:00 a.m. PT.
