Washington Rolls Through Day One of Husky Invite

SEATTLE --- Washington cruised to a plethora of wins on Friday in the first day of the 2019 Husky Invitational at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Doubles opened the day with the Huskies winning all five matches they played. Jack Davis and Ewen Lumsden opened the day with a close 8-7 (7-5) victory over Edwards and Roberts from Portland State. Thibault Cancel and Adam Torocsik picked up an 8-5 win over Doumen/Mueller of Eastern Washington with Alexis Alvarez and Kailuhia Lam earning an 8-2 victory ove Bats/Grimes also from EWU. Stevie Gould and Brandon Wong recorded an 8-4 win over Portland State's Bukary/Dimitrijevic. Later in the afternoon, Lam teamed with Jack Pulliam to pick up an 8-5 win over Bukhari/Holtari of Portland State.
On the singles side, Lumsden cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Edwards of Portland State while Jack Davis recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win over Balce from Eastern Washington. Gould also cruised to a straight-set win, beating Khachatyan from Eastern Washington 6-3, 6-3. Alvarez also won in two, beating Grimes from Eastern Washington 6-2, 6-3. Wong needed three sets, but con 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 over Bukary of Portland State with Pulliam also winning in three over Roberts from PSU, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
The Huskies return to the courts on Saturday for the second day of the invitational which runs through Sunday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
