Washington Loses 1-0 To Colorado On Late Goal
October 31, 2019 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – The #21 Washington Huskies were undone by a late goal, falling 1-0 to the Colorado Buffaloes. It was Washington's first home loss since August and put the Huskies at 10-5-2 overall, 6-3-0 in the Pac-12.
Washington's first-half chances came early, with three shots in the first ten minutes. Yates had two of those, dropping her defender in the box in the third minute for a shot that went wide and another shot that went high soon thereafter.
The beginning of the second half was just as dangerous. In all, the Huskies fired seven shots in the first 15 minutes after the break, including four shots from Ameera Hussen. Hussen's best chance came off a long dribble after a steal in the midfield, with her shot beating the keeper but curving just over the bar.
Despite controlling play in the second half, Washington found itself behind when Colorado scored in the 80th minute. Siena Ruelas made the initial save before the rebound went in, coming on just the fourth shot on goal for Colorado.
