Trip To The Bay On Deck For Washington

SEATTLE - The Washington GymDawgs head to the bay this weekend after earning four more event titles in their home opener last weekend. Washington has won at least three event titles in back-to-back meets now, with Evanni Roberson, Madison Copiak, and Geneva Thompson having all recorded multiple wins already.
Washington has earned the vault titles in back-to-back meets now, with Thompson winning outright against Oregon State after tying for the title with Copiak at Arizona. The GymDawgs also earned individual event titles on bars, floor, and all-around against Oregon State, with Roberson winning all three of those events. Kristyn Hoffa and Maya Washington each had scores of 9.875 on floor against Oregon State, finishing just behind Roberson.

This weekend will be the first trip to Stanford for Washington since 2017. The two teams met in Seattle last season, with Washington earning the win with a 196.475.

Thompson has led the Vault Dawgs of late, winning back-to-back vault event titles the last two weeks. Those two wins were the first event titles of Thompson's career. Against Oregon State, she set a career high on vault with a 9.850. Copiak also has a vault title this year, splitting the title with Thompson at Arizona. Copiak recorded a 9.800 on vault at that meet. |

Roberson became the second GymDawg to win a bars event title this season as she earned the first of her career with a 9.900 against Oregon State. That made it two weeks in a row with bars titles for the GymDawgs, as Copiak won at Arizona with a 9.900. Copiak has earned scores of 9.875, 9.900, and 9.850 on bars so far, ranking 21st in the country in the individual rankings. Monica Riley, who earned four bars titles in 2018, is second in average score for the GymDawgs and has a high of 9.875 this season. |

BEAM | |
Washington is ranked eighth in the country on beam, its highest event ranking so far. Three different GymDawgs average a score of 9.800 or higher: Roberson (9.883), Copiak (9.825), and Maya Washington (9.800). Roberson has hit 9.900 or higher in back-to-back weeks. Against Arizona, she had Washington's highest beam score since 2004 with a 9.950. In addition to Roberson and Copiak, Malory Rose has earned a score of 9.900 already on beam, coming against Arizona. Brenna Brooks earned a score of 9.850 in that meet, the highest score on any event of her young career. |

FLOOR | |
Roberson's first career floor title came thanks to her score of 9.900 against Oregon State. She currently leads the GymDawgs in average score on floor at 9.858, followed closely by Hoffa (9.842) and Maya Washington (9.825). Hoffa and Maya Washington tied for the Regional floor title last season. Both have been at or above 9.800 on floor in every meet this season, with each recording scores of 9.875 against Oregon State that represented season highs. |
