Regular Season Wraps Up on the Road

SEATTLE – To wrap up regular-season play, Washington men's tennis will play two road matches against ranked opponents, at No. 31 California on Friday and at No. 4 Stanford on Saturday.
The Huskies have won two-straight matches to improve their record to 13-10 (2-5 Pac-12). In the latest ITA singles rankings, Jake Douglas moved up to No. 62 and Mitch Stewart moved to No. 84.
Cal is 10-7 (2-3 Pac-12) after coming off of a loss at Stanford last Friday. The Bears have one singles player ranked, No. 58 Billy Griffith, and one doubles pair ranked, No. 35 Griffith and Nishimura. The last win for Washington against Cal came in 2011, a 4-3 win in Seattle. The Huskies last road win against the Bears was in 2004, a 6-1 victory.
Stanford has an 18-2 record and is sitting in second place in the Pac-12 with a 5-1 record. The Cardinal's only conference loss came against UCLA, who is currently in first place. They have three players ranked in singles, No. 8 Tom Fawcett, No. 70 Axel Geller and No. 90 Sameer Kumar. Additionally, there are two doubles duos ranked at No. 24 and No. 50. Washington last beat Stanford in 2007 in Seattle, a 6-1 win.
