SALT LAKE CITY – Bad bounces doomed the Huskies Thursday as Washington fell 2-0 to the Utah Utes on the road. Washington controlled the run of play throughout, firing 18 shots while allowing just four, but an unfortunate bounce on the wet field early in the game was enough to give Utah the win. The Huskies fall to 7-4-1 on the season after tonight.

Ameera Hussen led the way in the first half, putting four shots on goal and nearly curving her first corner kick of the season into the net. Mireya Grey started the second half just as dangerous, with a shot in the first minute of the half before sliding and just missing a goal off a Makena Carr cross a few minutes later.

Summer Yates, Sianna Siemonsma, and Kennedy Smith all had multiple shots in the game for Washington as well.

"Soccer is a humbling game," said Lesle Gallimore about the loss. "We created a lot of opportunities, but you've got to give Utah credit: they defended really well. I felt that we created, we didn't let up, but we just couldn't find a way [to score]."

		SCORING
12:55 \| A loose ball poked away from Washington's possession in the wet conditions, leaving Utah with an open net and the game's first goal. 63:06 \| On a counter after another long Husky attack, Utah's fresh legs were first to a looping ball in the high corner of the box. The Utes fired immediately, making it 2-0.

		NOTES
Washington's shutout streak came to a close after 196:29. The Huskies had ten corners in the game's first 35 minutes, tying their season-high for a single game. The last time Washington had more corners than tonight's 16 was October 22, 2004, when they had 17 against Oregon State. Since moving into the starting lineup three games ago, Hussen has ten shots, including seven on goal. Smith has four shots in her last three games and has at least one shot in six of the last seven.
