Weiss' Three-Run Triple Carries Purple To 4-1 Win Over Gold

SEATTLE -- Sophomore Kaiser Weiss hit a bases-loaded triple in the decisive third inning to lift the Purple squad to a 4-1 win over Gold on Saturday at Husky Ballpark in game one of the annual Purple and Gold World Series.
Ramon BramascoΒ doubled home Mason CerrilloΒ to open the scoring in the Purple's four-run third inning and Weiss provided the knock-out punch with a two-out triple to clear the bases and give his team a 4-0 lead.Β
Michael Petrie singled in a run for Gold in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 4-1, but Leo NierenbergΒ recorded the final out to give his squad a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three game series.Β
Jordan Jones scattered two hits and struck out one in four scoreless innings to pick up the win for Purple.Β
Josh BurgmannΒ started and threw the first four innings for Gold and struck out nine batters, including the side in the second, third and fourth innings.Β
The two teams meet again on Monday at 3:30 p.m. and if necessary, on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
