Huskies Host Utah Valley Looking For Third Straight Win
September 19, 2017 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies will have their final home non-conference game this week as they host the Utah Valley Wolverines on Thursday, September 21 at 7:00 pm. The non-conference schedule wraps up on Sunday, September 24 with a matchup at Seattle University at 6:00 pm.
Last week, the Huskies went 2-0-0, defeating Drexel 4-0 and Santa Clara 4-3. The eight goals were the most in a two-game stretch for the Huskies since 2014, when they also scored eight goals in season-opening wins against Gonzaga (4-0) and Seattle (4-1). Washington is 5-2-0 on the season now.
Handwalla Bwana was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for his efforts in those two wins last weekend. The sophomore recorded an assist on Blake Bodily's first career goal against Drexel before putting up three goals against Santa Clara. It was Washington's first hat trick since 2013, when Taylor Peay scored three goals against Santa Clara. The Pac-12 honor was the second of the year for the Huskies: Joey Parish was named Pac-12 Player of the Week earlier this year after putting up a goal and an assist against LMU.
Bodily was one of two Huskies to score their first collegiate goals this week, as Corban Anderson also added his first against Drexel. Bodily had an assist in that game as well, then followed that up with a goal and an assist against Santa Clara as well. The freshman now has seven points in his last four games. Luke Hauswirth also scored his first goal of the season to make it eight Huskies that have scored a goal this year.
Jaret Townsend had his first career points as well this week. The defender picked up two assists against Drexel.
