SEATTLE - Washington and Seattle U rekindle its crosstown rivalry Tuesday as the Huskies host the Redhawks for a 6:00 p.m. tilt at Husky Ballpark.
For those in attendance, it's Dollar Dog Night with hotdogs selling for $1 in the concession stands. If you can't make it down to the park, the Pac-12 Network will air the game with Greg Heister and Kevin Stocker calling the action.
The game is the first of three between the two teams during the season. UW will travel to Bannerwood Ballpark in Bellevue on Tuesday, April 25 and will again host SU on Tuesday, May 9.
UW leads the all-time series 77-51. Washington won two out of three matchups against Seattle U in the 2016 season and had won five in a row until Seattle U won 3-2 on April 19. The Huskies beat the Redhawks 3-1 on April 26 in the last matchup between the two teams at Husky Ballpark.
The history between the teams goes all the way back to 1903 with Washington wining a pair of games that year.
Right-handed freshman Leo Nierenberg (0-1, 3.72) will be making his first career start for the Huskies, while Seattle U will counter with Lucas Chapman (0-0, 0.00), who will also be making his first start of the year.
Washington is coming off winning two-of-three over the weekend against 21st-ranked Baylor, while Seattle U was swept by New Mexico State.
