
Huskies' Arrive In Pullman With Top-Ranked Defense

SEATTLE - The Huskies and Cougars renew their cross-state rivalry with a three-game series starting Friday, April 21 and running through Sunday, April 23 at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman.
No. 30 Washington (20-14, 7-5 Pac-12) enters the week fourth in the Pac-12 standings while Washington State (16-18, 2-10) is 11th.
The Huskies ride into Pullman boasting the No. 1 defense in the nation with a .985 fielding percentage. They have committed 19 errors on the season and are the only team left in Division I with less than 20 errors this year.
Washington is especially tough up the middle defensively. Second baseman Levi Jordan committed his first error of the season last Friday against Oregon State, while shortstop AJ Graffanino has made four errors all season and has remained perfect over the last 17 games.
Catcher Joey Morgan also committed his first error of the year against Oregon State with a throw that sailed into the outfield on a stolen base attempt. The junior backstop is tied for the Pac-12 lead by throwing out 10 of 16 stolen base attempts on the year.
Up the middle in the outfield, 2016 All-Pac-12 Defensive team member Jack Meggs patrols in center field where he has committed one error this year.
Last week, the Huskies won the first game of their series against No. 1 Oregon St. to snap the Beavers 23-game win streak, but OSU bounced back to win the final two games of the series. WSU was swept last week at Stanford and are 2-8 over its last 10 games.

The Huskies last series win was in 2014 when they won two of three in Seattle. UW's last series win on the Palouse was in 2013 when they swept the Cougars. Since Lindsay Meggs took over at UW in 2010, the Huskies hold a 13-10 advantage. The historic series began in 1901, where the two teams met for the first game in Husky baseball history.

• Against No. 1: Last week, the Huskies beat No. 1 OSU, 3-2, in game one of their series stopping the Beavers' 23-game win streak and earning their first win over the top-ranked team since beating Stanford in 2004.
