Oregon leads the series 144-132-1. The first meeting between the two squads was in 1910 and the Huskies defeated the Ducks 14-0. Last year in Seattle, the Huskies took 2 of 3 games, including a 7-4 win on March 26, 2016 to clinch the series. In 2015, the Huskies won the first game of the series on the road, 10-4, but dropped the next two games. Β The Huskies last series win in Eugene was in 2011. Under the direction of Lindsay Meggs and since 2010, the Huskies are 11-12 against the Ducks. Β .
ODDS AND ENDS:Β
β’ Bullpen Bullies: Last week against Utah, the Huskies' bullpen was nearly flawless. They recorded all three of the Huskies' wins in the sweep and did not allow a run in 18 innings pitched. The group allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 16 while holding the Utes to a .133 average.
β’ Game For Anything: The Huskies are going through one of their most daunting portions of their schedules. Due to a cancellation last Friday, they are playing 8 games over 9 days and are 4-1 through the first five games during the stretch.
β’ Bremer By The Numbers: Β Noah Bremer has thrown 213 career innings and is on pace to crack the Huskies top-five all-time innings pitched list. He needs to reach 241 IP to tie Pete Tjaarda (1985-88) in the top-10 list. He has also made 35 career starts and will tie Aaron West and Tim Campbell for 10th all-time in UW history with his next start. Bremer has recorded 19 strikeouts looking this season, second-most among Pac-12 leaders. He is tied for 5th with 27 K's on the season. Bremer has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 26 of 35 career starts and has a career earned run average of 2.66.
β’ (Throwing) Smoke And DeMers: Β Joe DeMers threw the first complete game shutout, 8-0, over Indiana State, March 11. It was the first by a Husky pitcher since Tyler Davis blanked Georgia Tech, 8-0, on May 31, 2014 during the NCAA Oxford Regional. DeMers is second in the Pac-12 lead with 34.2 inning pitched this season. He has went 6 innings or longer in 4 of his 5 starts after recording a season-high of 6 1/3 innings in 16 starts as a freshman in 2016.Β
β’ Stealers Beware: The Huskies are nearly impossible to steal against. Opponents have recorded just one stolen base in 14 attempts. Joey Morgan leads the Pac-12 and is a perfect 8-for-8 in gunning out runners trying to swipe bases.
β’ Hot Hubbs: Senior MJ Hubbs has reached base safely in all 16 of his starts and has a current streak of reaching safely in 13 straight games.Β
β’ Hardy Appetite For Wins: Junior righty Alex Hardy is taking full advantage of opportunities to win games. In seven relief appearances he has picked up a team-high and is tied for the NCAA lead with five wins.Β
β’ Dawgs Days: The Huskies 11-2 during day games and 2-5 in night games.
β’ Keeping It Close: Of the Huskies' seven losses, six are by two runs or less. Β Β
