
UW To Face Pepperdine This Sunday

SEATTLE – The Washington men's tennis team heads down to Malibu, Calif. this weekend to face Pepperdine on Sunday February 5th at noon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
The 5-1 Huskies were last in action at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Athens, Ga., where they defeated Alabama 4-2 before falling to No. 5 Georgia 0-4. No. 60 Mitch Stewart leads the way for the Dawgs so far this season, with a 10-4 singles record on the year and 4-1 record in dual match play. The Federal Way, Wash. native defeated No. 63 Mazen Osama of Alabama last Friday before playing a tough match against the 22nd ranked player in the nation, Wayne Montgomery of Georgia which he narrowly lost 6-4, 6-4.
The Waves have started the 2017 season with a 1-2 record, after opening with a 7-0 win over Loyola Marymount and falling to Tulane and Cal Poly. They are coached by Marcelo Ferreira who is in his third season and led on the court by senior Guilherme Hadlich who owns a 9-5 singles record thus far. While Pepperdine owns the advantage in the all-time series 10-4, the Huskies took last year's match on February 21st with a 4-1 win at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
