
Dawgs Head to Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Washington women's golf team continues its spring campaign at the 2017 Bruin Wave Invitational this Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 27-28, at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. Monday's round will feature 36 holes followed by 18 holes on Tuesday on the par-72, 6,323 yard course.
Washington's lineup will feature sophomore Julianne Alvarez, freshman Karen Miyamoto, sophomore Wenyung Keh and freshmen EunWon Park and Christina Wang. Washington will be paired with UCLA, Stanford and San Francisco during Monday's first round.
The 14-team field (GolfWeek Rankings) features co-hosts UCLA (7) and Pepperdine (40), Stanford (1), San Francisco, San Diego State (30), Denver, New Mexico, Pepperdine, USC (3), California (25), Colorado (39), Cal Poly, CSU Fullerton and CSU Northridge.
This is the third tournament of the season for the Huskies who most recently finished tied for seventh at the AllState Sugar Bowl. Washington was led by freshman Karen Miyamoto who recorded a career-best tie for 10th with her 1-over 217. She posted two eagles in as many days to highlight her showing in New Orleans.
Washington was able to climb five spots on the leaderboard during the final two rounds and posted their best score of the three-round event over the final 18 during extremely windy conditions. Sophomore Julianne Alvarez climbed 17 spots to tie for 16th while sophomore Wenyung Keh jumped 23 spots thanks ot a final round score of 1-under 71 to finish tied for 35.
Washington, who finished eighth at this event last season, opened the spring season with a 15th place showing at the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge.
The Huskies will tee off at 8 a.m. and live scoring can be found on golfstat.com.
