UW Improves Upon Day One Score by 10 Strokes at Nothrop Grumman Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The University of Washington women's golf team improved their day two score by 10 strokes on Monday as they carded a 12-over 296 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Dawgs sit in 15th place at 34-over 602 heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
The Dawgs were led by Wenyung Keh on Monday as she carded a 2-over 73 to climb into a tie for 40th (75-73). Despite a double bogey on her fifth hole of the day, Keh responded with birdies on her 16th and 18th holes to finish the back nine at even par.
She was followed by freshman Karen Miyamoto who improved upon her day one score by nine strokes to finished with a 1-under 70 on Monday. Her two-day total of 7-over 149 sits tied for 49th. Miyamoto, who joined the team during the winter break, had one birdie and three bogeys on her front nine but responded well over the final nine holes posting birdies on three holes to finish with her 1-under score.
Sophomore Julianne Alvarez is tied for 65th following day two after shooting a six-over 77 to move her overall score to 9-over 151. She was followed by freshman Christina Wang who is tied 79th at 13-over 155 and sophomore Sarah Rhee at 16-over 158 (82-76) who improved upon her day one score by six strokes.
Playing as an individual, freshman Eun Won Park is 84th at 17-over 159 (78-81). Florida's Kelly Frassel moved into the individual lead following Tuesday's round as she is at 5-under 137. Additionally, No. 6 Florida holds the team lead at 3-under 565 (290-275), No. 2 USC is in second at 1-under 567 (290-275) while No. 22 Duke is third (6-over 574).
Washington wraps up its first spring tournament on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
