UW will open the 2017-18 campaign on Friday, November 10 as it takes on Belmont at 7 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game Β will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks Washington with Mark Rogodino and Eldridge Recasner on the call. Additionally, fans can tune into 570 KVI in Seattle to hear the action from Tony Castricone and Jason Hamilton. The game is part of the 2k Sports Classic benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project. UW will take on Providence and either Saint Louis or Virginia Tech in New York next week as part of the event and face Seattle U on Nov. 24 in Seattle as well.Β
The Coach
Head Coach Mike Hopkins is starting his first year at Washington, and first as a head coach becoming the 19th head coach in UW history. After spending 22 years as an assistant at Syracuse, Hopkins oversaw teams that reached the NCAA Tournament 16 times inlcuding the 2003 National Championship, four Final Fours, five Elite Eights and 10 Sweet 16s along with four NIT berths. Syracuse never dipped below a 55.0 percent record while Hopkins was on staff.Β
