No. 19 Washington Battles Cal To Close Out Bay Area Trip

Washington closes out its first conference road trip at California on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Golden Bears at Edwards Stadium beginning at 3:00 p.m in a match broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network.
The Huskies picked up a huge road point on Thursday, playing to a 1-1 draw at No. 8 Stanford. Washington, ranked No. 19 in the NCAA/United Soccer Coaches poll, improved to 9-3-1 on the season and to 2-1-1 in the conference. The Huskies have put together a 6-1-1 record in their last eight contests, outscoring its opponents 20-6 over that stretch.
Sophomore Elijah Rice netted his fourth goal of the season and first in over a month, last finding the back of the net on September 10 vs. Mercer. He is third on the team in goals behind fellow sophomore Handwalla Bwana and redshirt junior Scott Menzies who each have six.

The Golden Bears moved ahead of the Huskies in the Pac-12 standings after a 2-0 win over Oregon State on Thursday. Cal sits at 3-1-0 in Pac-12 play (9 points) with an overall record of 8-3-0.
