
Huskies Host UCLA And SDSU This Weekend

The End is Near
This weekend the Huskies (12-4) will host some familiar faces, UCLA (8-6-1) and SDSU (8-3-4) on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 6. Both matches are set to kick-off at 5 p.m. and will be aired live on the Pac. 12 Network.
Last Time Out
The Washington men's soccer team won their second overtime match of the weekend after a header from Justin Schmidt in less than two minutes into overtime. The 1-0 win over the Cardinal was their first Pac-12 loss of the season and their first loss in the month of October. The two teams battled in the pouring rain for 92 minutes. The overtime win allowed the Huskies to halt the Cardinal's quest for its third consecutive conference title. The Husky win was also the Carnidal's first loss at home since 2014. Goalkeeper Auden Schilder played an integral role in the match with eight saves. Twice in the match the red-shirt junior denied back-to-back shots from opponent. His last two saves were what sent the match into overtime. The goal in the 91st minute from Schmidt came off a Handwalla Bwana corner kick. The goal was Schmidt's second of the season and Bwana's 7th assist.
Last Time at Home
16 minutes was all it took for the Dawgs to capture the win over Gonzaga Friday night. After taking the lead early in the first half, the team earned their tenth win of the season, finishing 3-1. Garret Jackson, Elijah Rice and Steven Wright were the goal scoreres. Justin Schmidt was given the assist for the first goal.
Awards on Awards on Awards
After the two wins last weekend, including the shutout at Stanford, two Dawgs were given national and conference weekly recognitions. Auden Schilder was placed on the TopDrawer Soccer National Team of the Week and the Pac-12 Player of the Week after his shutout and combined 15 saves. Justin Schmidt was placed on the College Soccer News' National Team of the Week for his defensive work at Cal and Stanford and his game winning header at Stanford.
CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team
Sophomore Quentin Pearson was named to the COSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team last week. Pearson currently holds a 3.59 cumulative GPA. He is a pre-health sciences major.

Freshman phenom Handwalla Bwana currently posts a Top-25 (No. 24) assists (7) and assists per game (.047) at No. 25.
Scouting the Bruins
The Bruins are coming off a 3-1 win against non-conference Coastal Carolina. The Bruins are currently No. 4 in the Pac-12. The Bruins are coached by Jorge Salcedo. The Huskies have an all-time record of 12-28-3 against the Bruins. The last matchup was in 2015 that resulted in a 2-1 loss for Washington.
The Series with UCLA
The Huskies have an all-time record of 13-28-3 against the Bruins. The last matchup was on Sept. 29, 2016 that ended in a Husky win. The team scored four goals in the first half and shut out the Bruins in Westwood.

SDSU enjoyed an open date last week following a successful homestand when it played Stanford to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 20, before shutting out Cal for the secnd time this season, 1-0, on Oct. 23
