Summer Update: Meggs Starring In Cape Cod

SEATTLE – Washington Baseball players continue to have an impact in summer league baseball around the country.
Husky outfielder Jack Meggs continues to impress in the Cape Cod League for the Brewster Whitecaps. He is hitting .285 and has appeared in 32 games. Recently, Meggs went 2-for-5 and drove in the winning run in the 10th inning to lead the Whitecaps to a 4-3 win over the Falmouth Commodores on July 26.
Junior Josh Cushing is staying hot for Strasburg Express. Through two games in the playoffs, Cushing is hitting an impressive .500 with 5 RBI. Most recently, Cushing hit a three run double against the Aldie Senators that led Strasburg to a 8-2 victory and advanced the team to a spot in the semifinals. Cushing also played in the Valley League All-Star Game and had an RBI for the North team.
In the West Coast League, Washington catcher Andy Cosgrove is hitting .293 and has played in 24 games for the Corvallis Knights. Teammate, Alex Nesbitt has pitched in 9 games, starting in 6 and has a 2-2 record for the Knights.
In the Pacific International League, Husky infielder Levi Jordan is batting .333 and has appeared in 19 games for the Seattle Cheney Studs.
In Colorado, Shane Olson is hitting .337, with 20 RBI in 28 appearances for the Boulder Collegians.
Incoming Husky freshman continue to perform well. AJ Graffanino has a .305 batting average in 29 appearances for the Cowlitz Black Bears. Peyton Lacoste is hitting .370 with 7 RBI in 17 games and Karl Kani is hitting .286, with 10 appearances for the Rainier Snowcaps. Also, incoming pitcher Joe DeMers has a 2.07 ERA and 1-1 record for the Walla Walla Sweets.
